If it was Andy Reid's final ride to a game with the Eagles, it made for a nice scene -- his wife and kids riding to MetLife Stadium on the team bus. But the pleasantness of that image quickly dissipated once the game began and the starkness of why Reid's likely firing is needed unfolded in what was an ugly, effortless performance by his team. This was a humiliating and embarrassing end to the Philadelphia career of a man who deserved better. ... [In] recent months and years we saw maybe the biggest of his problems. He sometimes cannot inspire players. That the Eagles, knowing this was likely Reid's final game, were so unceremoniously gutless and flat is a huge indictment of them and Reid. The wait ... isn't over? [Amar'e Stoudemire, who hoped New Year's Day] would represent his return from left knee surgery, went through a full practice yesterday with some approximation of the Knicks' roster. While claiming he felt better, Stoudemire admitted he is not yet 80 percent and felt soreness on some moves. Stoudemire wants to soldier on for the banged-up Knicks. "If I got to sacrifice my health a little bit for the betterment of the team, then I will," he said. But he said he needs to see how he feels today to determine whether he plays against the Trail Blazers [Tuesday] at the Garden. Texas A&M defensive end Damontre Moore made it official late Sunday, declaring for the NFL draft, and two of his teammates may follow the same path. Offensive tackles Luke Joeckel and Jake Matthews also are considering early entry into April's draft. Each is a junior and neither has redshirted. All underclassmen have until Jan. 15 to make a decision on the draft. Moore, an All-American, is projected as a potential top-five pick. ... Moore thrived in A&M's 4-3 scheme under new defensive coordinator Mark Snyder, leading the team in both tackles (80) and sacks (12.5). He's on track to be the first Aggie lineman to lead the team in tackles since Sam Adams did so in 1993. Joeckel also is considered an elite pick in early mock drafts. (American-Statesman) Comment
