Lucas: Rose will return faster and stronger

Adrian Peterson has become the new template for sporting success after a major knee injury, and John Lucas III views AP's recovery through the lens of friend and former teammate Derrick Rose. In Lucas' mind, Rose could return from his torn ACL as dominant as Adrian Peterson did for the Minnesota Vikings this NFL past season. "I think he might come back better than AP," Lucas told RealGM. Ultimately, Lucas is hoping for Rose to make a full recovery, both physically and mentally. When Rose does come back, however, Lucas is confident in the 2011 NBA MVP being a better all-around player -- with elevated athleticism. ... [Said Lucas:] "I think he's going to come back faster and stronger, more athletic." (Real GM) Comment

Draft's potential 'best player' denies injury red flag

On the upside, Jarvis Jones can throw a baseball, as he did Sunday, without back or neck pain. That might not qualify as a complete physical, but given the relative hysteria following reports that the former Georgia linebacker was being red-lined by NFL teams before the draft, it was a comforting sight. ... "That ain't true," he said of the reports, before throwing out the first pitch of the Braves' spring training game against Detroit at Disney. "People are still talking to me. Nobody has taken me off the board. The doctor said I was fine and cleared me and the [scouting] combine went fine for me." ... Some, including ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper, have labeled Jones as potentially the best player in the draft. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution) Comment

Rangers ready to dump Ryan?

While a Sunday report suggested Kyle Lohse could be coming in, a departure might make bigger headlines in the Rangers' world. [There's] been a shift of power in Arlington. ... And the loser in all this? Nolan Ryan. ... The Rangers owners are now on the edge of a local PR disaster with a large segment of the fandom. Except Bob Simpson denied on Sunday that all of the above is the way the situation has unfolded, particularly concerning the possible exit of Ryan from the team, an exit that sources say is coming, if it happens, sooner rather than later. Like possibly by the end of spring training. So far, however, Ryan has not confirmed he is planning on leaving the ballclub. He was not returning phone calls Sunday. (Star-Telegram) Comment
