Heat to revisit Oden talks this summer

Though it didn't happy this past week, the Miami Heat may still give center Greg Oden a chance to take his talents to South Beach. [Oden] will be back on the Heat's radar this summer. Mike Conley Sr., the agent for Oden, said Wednesday he had discussions with Miami president Pat Riley about the spot the Heat had open between Feb. 21 and last Saturday. ... But Conley Sr. said it was decided it's best to wait until the summer before talking further about Oden, the NBA's top draft choice in 2007 who is trying to make a comeback after not having played in the NBA since December 2009 due to knee injuries. "The Heat are interested in him, and he's interested in them," Conley Sr. said in a phone interview. (FOX Sports) Comment

Favorite to replace Welker in New England

Might there be a receiver just as likely to fit the Patriots' attack as Wes Welker? [With] long-term contract talks breaking down between the player and team as of Wednesday morning, it looks like Welker will be free to test the open market beginning March 12. ... Wideout Brandon Lloyd is likely headed for a new city and tight ends Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski had problems staying healthy during the 2012 regular season. With the team's most reliable and consistent pass-catcher possibly on his way out the door, where could New England turn for help? The odds-on favorite at the moment is St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola. (National Football Post) Comment

Wilson holding himself back from suitors

Free-agent reliever and ex-Giants closer Brian Wilson continues his rehabilitation these days in relative anonymity. [And] it might be several weeks into the season until he's ready to sign. Wilson, coming back from a second Tommy John ligament transfer surgery, prefers not to audition for clubs until he is 100 percent, according to a source with knowledge of the pitcher's situation. Wilson, who is throwing bullpen sessions, is said to be at about "80 to 85 percent." He did throw for the Mets in January, was underwhelming and, shortly afterward, apparently decided his best bet was to make sure his arm strength was all the way back before submitting to another audition.
