Adrian Peterson isn't much for setting his sights low or subtly. Q: Forget about Eric Dickerson's record for a minute. Last December, we talked about Emmitt Smith's record and I told you you were on pace to get there in Week 4 of 2019. You said sooner and promised to come back with a timetable. Emmitt had 18,355 yards. You're now 9,506 away. We need a week and a year. When do you get there? A: Man. Oh boy. I have to do some calculations. I've been in the league seven years. I'm already right around [9,000]. Calculate it out -- Let's think. Maybe get a couple 2,000 yard seasons ... I've got ... Hmmm ... 2017. Q: What week in 2017? A: Man. I better go late. I'm already getting too far in front of myself. I'll say Week 16. There it is. Week 16 in 2017. Whoo. That's pushing it, huh? (Star Tribune) Comment
'Tis the season. If it's July, Cliff Lee must be on the trade market. Actually, Lee hasn't been traded during the season since 2010. Chances are, he will not be traded before the non-waiver deadline at 4 p.m. ET Wednesday. But the Phillies are discussing their All-Star left-hander with other clubs, according to major league sources, creating the possibility of another Lee blockbuster. One rival executive on Sunday night acknowledged the Phillies' willingness to trade Lee but said the team would do it only "for a lot!!!" meaning, a steep package of talent. The Phils' demands, however, would be but one obstacle to a deal. ... Put it all together, and Lee figures to stay put through the non-waiver deadline. The Phillies then could try to trade him in August. (FOX Sports) Comment
In the end, it seems Marcus Camby found a team that showed a little more interest in him than the Miami Heat. The Heat remain committed to going after free-agent center Greg Oden, who is expected to make a decision soon. Miami coach Erik Spoelstra and vice president of player personnel Chet Kammerer observed Oden in a workout last week in his hometown of Indianapolis. "If we get Greg Oden, I think we will win a third (straight) title," Heat scout Tim Hardaway said in an interview with FOX Sports Florida on Saturday. Oden hasn't played in an NBA game since 2009 due to knee injuries. But he has been said to be looking good in his recovery, and San Antonio, Dallas, Sacramento, New Orleans and Atlanta are also interested in signing him. (FOX Sports Florida) Comment
