Again, the Raiders are courting a quarterback quandary. Matt McGloin's performance in the Oakland Raiders' 28-23 victory over the Houston Texans and their previously top-ranked defense, along with Terrelle Pryor's recent regression and right knee injury, would suggest so. And coach Dennis Allen would not commit, at least not publicly, to a starter for next week's home game against the Tennessee Titans. "Here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to enjoy this win," Allen said. "We're going to go back and we'll evaluate. But (McGloin) definitely did a very good job today." McGloin was 18 of 32 for 197 yards passing and three touchdowns for a 105.9 passer rating. Pryor has thrown eight interceptions since his last TD and tried to play through the pain of what he called a sprained MCL last week. (ESPN.com) Comment
The BCS is coming down the home stretch, sputtering to a finish. It's all almost over. The four-team playoff and selection committee are coming next year. This is the last season anyone has worry about this. Everything is hypothetical. And it doesn't matter, because No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Florida State aren't losing anyway. The chatter is endless. Here's a sure thing. Next week, if No. 4 Baylor beats No. 10 Oklahoma State, the Bears are going to pass No. 3 Ohio State in the BCS standings. And here's a thought - if No. 1 or No. 2 did lose, you'd sure want to be No. 3. That all became clear Sunday night, when Ohio State's lead over the Bears was revealed to have dwindled even more. Ohio State was No. 3 with a BCS number of .8869, while Baylor was at .8856. That's a lead of only .0013. (The Plain Dealer) Comment
It's not often that New York and Boston find common trade ground, though something could happen with a few big names. The New York Knicks continue to dangle Iman Shumpert in trade talks, including a recent proposal to the Celtics that would send the third-year guard and Amar'e Stoudemire to Boston in an effort to obtain star point guard Rajon Rondo, league sources confirmed Sunday. The Celtics, though, have yet to show interest in the deal, instead preferring to unload forward Gerald Wallace in a trade, sources said. The Knicks have inquired about Rondo in trade talks before, but both times the Celtics made it clear they were not interested in trading him. ... Sources did say the Celtics would be willing to take on Stoudemire's contract if they could unload some of their longer deals. (ESPN New York) Comment
