ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Purdue's second-half formula for beating Duke was pretty simple.

"We changed the our offense and got the ball to Kenny," coach Gene Keady said.

Kenneth Lowe scored 22 points and David Teague added a career-high 19 to lead Purdue past No. 2 Duke 78-68 in the title game of the Great Alaska Shootout on Saturday night.

Combined, Lowe and Teague were 13-for-25 from the field including 5-of-12 from 3-point range. Lowe was named tournament MVP.

"Lowe was the difference -- a powerful leader," Duke coach Mike Kryzewski said. "He's strong and he gives his team confidence."

Teague had averaged just six points in his first three games.

"It was just a matter of time before Teague was going to break out," Keady said.

Duke's guards shot just 11-for-28 including 4-for-14 from 3-point range and the team shot 32 percent in the second half.

"We haven't executed on the offensive end like we can, and we have to do, and that puts a lot of pressure on our defense," Kryzewski said. "Our offense did not help our defense."

Purdue (4-0) started the second half with a 16-2 run that gave the Boilermakers a 49-41 lead with 14:41 left. Lowe scored seven points during the run and Teague made a 3-pointer.

Luol Deng's steal and dunk at 13:39 closed the gap to 49-47. But Booker hit a jump hook, Teague drained a 3-pointer and the Blue Devils (3-1) would get no closer than three the rest of the game.

"Purdue is stronger, and when a team is physical, you have to execute better," Kryzewski said.

Chris Booker added 20 points for Purdue and led the team with five assists.

"We don't have any kids that are not as good as they think they are," Keady said. "They are better than they think they are, and that's an unusual thing. It makes it easy to coach them."

Shelden Williams had 15 points and 13 rebounds for Duke, and Deng had 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Blue Devils scored eight of their first nine field goals in the paint. Williams had 10 of the Blue Devils' first 13 points and Shavlick Randolph followed with two more buckets underneath the basket for an 18-13 lead.

Purdue stayed close by forcing a dozen first-half turnovers. Teague's transition basket gave the Boilermakers a 24-23 lead and there were five more lead changes and two ties before the half.
