TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Arizona forward Isaiah Fox probably will be out for the season after undergoing successful knee surgery.

Randy Cohen, assistant director of athletics for medical services, said after Tuesday's surgery that the normal recovery time for the procedure is three to four months.

That would mean Fox's earliest return would be in early March.

The 6-foot-, 9-inch junior tore his left meniscus early in last Friday's loss to Florida. The athletic department is expected to seek a medical redshirt designation that would give Fox two more seasons of eligibility.

Coach Lute Olson had mentioned that option earlier Tuesday in his weekly session with reporters.

"He's only played one game and six minutes," Olson said. "If it's a long-term thing, that's a possibility."

Fox had been impressive in workouts, Olson said, and had his first career-double double -- 15 points and 11 rebounds -- in the season-opening victory over Northern Arizona.

Fox figured to be the team's main front-line reserve, but those duties now fall to freshman Kirk Walters. The Wildcats also may go even more often with a small lineup that features Hassan Adams and Andre Iguodala at the forwards.

Arizona (1-1) plays at Saint Louis on Saturday.
