TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Four Florida State players were treated for heat-related problems as the Seminoles battled 90-degree temperatures near the end of a three-hour practice Tuesday morning.

Starting linebacker Michael Boulware and center John Frady each spent time in a tub of ice water near the end of practice and were later carted to the locker room. Boulware was reported to have been suffering from heat cramps.

Tight end Matt Henshaw was also carted off the field because of the heat.

Meanwhile, guard Bobby Meeks was sent to the locker room because of asthma problems. Meeks, who is battling Eric Broe for the starting job, has been slowed by the condition several times.

"Yesterday he went the whole practice and (agility drills), so that was encouraging," coach Bobby Bowden said. "But this morning he had some problems. I think as it gets cooler those problems will go away."

The Seminoles had been practicing for much of the last two weeks in milder temperatures. Bowden said he instituted more breaks in practice in an effort to combat the heat. Still, he said, the change in temperature was welcome.

"That's what we need because overall its been a pretty cool, cloud-covered two weeks of practice," Bowden said. "Today we got a little heat."

The Seminoles spent the morning in pads to prepare for a Wednesday afternoon scrimmage, one of two remaining before the Aug. 30 season opener at North Carolina.

Wide receiver Chris Davis was held out of Tuesday's practice after spraining his right ankle Monday night. It was unclear if he would be ready for the scrimmage.
