(AP) -- Doug Kalitta beat Tony Schumacher on Sunday in the Top Fuel final of the 22nd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway. Kalitta and Schumacher ran identical times of 4.698, but Kalitta's .044 reaction time, compared with Schumacher's .057, was enough for the victory. Kalitta's speed of 311.20 mph also topped Schumacher's 304.19. Kalitta beat Kenny Bernstein in the semifinal while Schumacher beat Larry Dixon. Dixon remains atop the Top Fuel standings with 1,540 points. Kalitta is second with 1,269 points. In the Pro Stock final, Greg Anderson beat Kurt Johnson 6.917 to 6.930. Anderson flew to a speed of 200.05 mph to Johnson's 198.82 mph. Gary Densham beat Tim Wilkerson in the Funny Car final, 5.009 to 5.042. Densham raced to a speed of 298.01 mph compared to Wilkerson's 297.29 mph. |
