CLERMONT, Ind. (AP) -- John Force, seeking the 116h top qualifying spot of his NHRA career, was the fastest of the Funny Car drivers Friday at the rain-delayed U.S. Nationals. David Baca, Kurt Johnson and Angelle Savoie also led the way in their divisions. Force covered a quarter-mile in 4.759 seconds at 307.72 mph. Baca paced the Top Fuel field with a track-record elapsed time of 4.499, going 324.51. Johnson went to the top in Pro Stock with a track-record time of 6.778 at 203.77. Greg Anderson set the track speed record with a 6.786 pass at 205.01. Savoie went 7.164 at 185.28 to pace the Pro Stock Bike field. Qualifying continues Saturday with final eliminations set for Sunday at Indianapolis Raceway Park, where rain washed out the event last weekend.
