No problemTesto leads U.S. to Olympics qualifying victoryPosted: Wednesday November 19, 2003 10:30PM; Updated: Wednesday November 19, 2003 10:33PM GERMANTOWN, Md. (AP) -- David Testo had two goals and an assist to lead the United States to a 4-0 victory over St. Kitts & Nevis on Wednesday night in the second leg of a second-round CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying series. The Americans won both games of the series, outscoring St. Kitts & Nevis 10-0 to advance to the final round of qualifying for the 2004 Olympics in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Feb. 2-12. The U.S. team won 6-0 in the first game of the series Saturday in Basseterre, St. Kitts, and would have advanced with a win, tie or a loss by fewer than six goals. On Wednesday night, Testo opened the scoring in the third minute, converting a crossing pass from Edson Buddle. The Americans controlled play throughout a first half played in a driving rainstorm. The rain stopped just before halftime. Testo added his second goal in the 62nd minute, scoring from about 10 yards. He also assisted Kyle Martino's goal in the 87th minute. Eddie Gaven scored on a penalty kick during extra time. In the eight-team qualifying in Mexico, two teams qualify for next year's Olympics. |
