Odom, Yao named NBA Players of WeekPosted: Monday March 8, 2004 2:38PM; Updated: Monday March 8, 2004 2:45PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Houston Rockets center Yao Ming and Miami Heat forward Lamar Odom on Monday were named NBA Players of the Week. Yao took the Western Conference honors after helping the Rockets win two of three games last week. Leading Houston in points and rebounds in all three contests, he averaged 29.7 points per game. Earning the Eastern Conference award, Odom led the Heat to a 2-1 record last week after averaging 23.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game. He had 30points, 19 rebounds and 11-assists in Saturday's 102-96 win over Sacramento for just the third 30-15-10 game in the NBA since 1989. Also considered for the awards were Boston's Mark Blount, Detroit's Rasheed Wallace, Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal, Shaquille O'Neal of the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett, New York's Stephon Marbury, Philadelphia's Kenny Thomas, Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire and Washington's Gilbert Arenas.
