KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee linebacker Marvin Mitchell had another knee surgery and will miss the season.
Mitchell, a junior backup from Norfolk, Va., missed spring practice after he had left knee surgery in January. He had arthroscopic surgery on the same knee last week and then another surgery on it Wednesday, team officials said.
"Surgery went as expected, and Marvin will miss the remainder of the 2004 football season," Tennessee trainer Keith Clements said Wednesday. "I'm hopeful he will return for workouts in the spring."
Mitchell has played in 16 games in his two-year career at Tennessee. He blocked a punt against South Carolina last year that helped the Volunteers win the game in overtime.
