The moment
Chris DiMarco holed a 5-iron shot in the rain for a hole-in-one at the par-3 sixth hole. "It was a perfect shot," said DiMarco, who went on to post a three-under 69.
Player who impressed me
Jay Haas is 50, he's supposed to be playing golf on the senior tour but he's just playing too doggone well to leave the PGA Tour. He also shot 69, which isn't surprising because he has always played
Augusta National pretty well -- at least the years when it wasn't sopping wet and playing very long.
Bogey man
Tiger Woods got off to a rocky start and showed he still has issues with his swing. Fighting that blocked-right shot, he overcompensated at the par-4 fifth hole and snap-hooked a tee shot into the azaleas and made a double bogey en route to a front-nine 40.
Hell hole
Woods was not alone in his trouble at the fifth. Before play resumed at 6:15 p.m. after a storm delay, the fifth ranked as the toughest hole on the course, yielding more double bogeys (four) than birdies (two). The average score was 4.43, nearly half a stroke above par.
