Bertuzzi's suspension could be as long as 41 games if the Canucks make it to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. The Canucks All-Star sucker-punched Colorado's Steve Moore from behind, driving him into the ice. The hit knocked Moore unconscious, breaking a verterbrae in his neck.
Marty McSorley 23 games In what was the NHL's most infamous incident, Bruins defender McSorley swung his stick at the head of Vancouver's Donald Brashear. The suspension later was extended to one year.
Gordie Dwyer 23 games The Tampa Bay Lightning forward made physical contact with an official in October 1999.
Dale Hunter 21 games Hunter, a tough guy for the Capitals, slammed the Islanders' Pierre Turgeon to the boards from behind after Turgeon scored the series-clinching goal during the 1993 Stanley Cup playoffs.
Brad May 20 games May, then a winger for the Phoenix Coyotes, was suspended for a slash to the head of Columbus' Steve Heinze on Jan. 4, 2001.
Tom Lysiak 20 games Chicago Blackhawk intentionally tripped a linesman in October 1983.
Tony Granato 15 games Granato, then a Kings winger and coincidentally now the Avs coach, slashed the Blackhawks' Neil Wilkinson on the helmet on Feb. 9, 1994.
Dave Brown 15 games The ex-Flyers goon cross-checked the Rangers' Tomas Sandstrom in the face on Oct. 26, 1987.
Wilf Paiement 15 games Colorado's Paiement swung his stick at the head of Detroit's Dennis Polonich on Oct. 25, 1978.
Maurice Richard 15 games The Hall of Fame Canadiens forward took out linesman Cliff Thompson in March 1955. He was suspended for the entire playoffs, which sparked off riots in Montreal.

Ted Green
13 games St. Louis' Maki clubbed "Terrible" Ted Green over the head after an vicious altercation during a preseason game on Sept. 21, 1969. Green had a fractured skull, needed three live-saving operations and had a steel plate inserted. Both players were charged with assault, but later acquitted.
Eddie Shore 13 games Boston's Shore slammed Toronto's Ace Bailey from behind on Dec. 12, 1933. Bailey, Bailey suffered a fractured skull and never played again.
Andre Roy 13 games The Tampa Bay enforcer left the penalty box and struggled with a linesman, who was trying to stop him from fighting the Rangers' Sandy McCarthy
