On the women's side, veterans Tiffeny Milbrett and Shannon MacMillan were dropped from the team after a loss to Germany in the 2003 World Cup. Despite the addition of upcoming star Heather O'Reilly, 19, Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, Kristine Lilly, Julie Foudy and Joy Fawcett will fall short in trying to end their careers with their second Olympic gold medals.
