| BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) -- Carl Edwards came from the back of the field to edge Shane Hmiel in Wednesday night's NASCAR Craftsman Truck series O'Reilly 200 race at Bristol Motor Speedway. After qualifying fifth, Edwards' crew elected to make unapproved pre-race repairs to his Ford after a spin on his second lap of qualifying. That decision pushed him to the rear, but he methodically worked his way to the front, taking the lead on the 180th lap and holding on for his third win of the season. Edwards started the season with a win in Florida and also won at Kansas City, Kan., in July. Hmiel's Chevrolet was just .306 seconds behind Edwards. The race was extended six extra laps after the eighth caution was issued. Edwards averaged just 74.496 mph while being bogged down by 50 laps under yellow. "Winning from the 36th starting position at this place is pretty wild," Edwards said. "I felt like our truck was good enough to win. We used up a lot of our luck in that spin. I couldn't believe I didn't hit anything." Matt Crafton finished a career-best third in his Chevrolet. NASCAR Nextel Cup series drivers Robby Gordon and Kevin Harvick were fourth and fifth, also in Chevy trucks. Hank Parker Jr., David Starr, defending champion Travis Kvapil, Steve Park and pole starter Ken Schrader rounded out the top 10. Copyright 2004 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
