Newly crowned European champion Porto finished the season at No. 1 in the CNN/World Soccer Top 10, in voting done May 28. The Portuguese side returned to the top of the club rankings a week after being knocked into second place by Spanish champion and UEFA Cup winner Valencia. Porto, which beat Monaco 3-0 in Gelsenkirchen, had led the club poll for the previous six weeks. Valencia's double-winning season earned second place, well ahead of third-place English champion Arsenal. Beaten European Cup finalist Monaco stayed in fourth place, ahead of Italian champion AC Milan. Argentina's Boca Juniors jumped four places to No. 6 after reaching the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores with a penalty shootout win over Sao Caetano. The weekly CNN/World Soccer Top 10 is compiled by staff from SI.com, CNN's World Sport show along with the team at World Soccer magazine. Others receiving votes: Juventus, Lyon, River Plate, Deportivo Coruna, Ajax, Celtic, Panathinaikos. One to watch: With a place in Champions League qualifying, a potential new influx of cash and the arrival of the French league's top scorer Djibril Cisse, Liverpool is a team to look out for next season.
