SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (AP) -- Costa Rica's Herdiano agreed to loan international forward Andy Herron to the Chicago Fire for six months, after which he will have the option of playing with the Major League Soccer squad for two more years.
"Everything is ready," Herron said. "The economic terms are very good, and I will also have the option of renewing my contract for two years more."
The striker said he will join the Fire after Costa Rica meets Canada in a CONCACAF World Cup qualifier next month.
Herron caught the attention of international scouts while leading Costa Rica during the Copa America tournament in Peru last month. Teams in Norway and Denmark expressed interest in Herron before the loan with Chicago was finalized.
Herron will be the third Costa Rican playing in MLS, joining Erick Scott of the Columbus Crew and Pablo Brenes of the New Jersey-based MetroStars.
