3 -- XFL alums who have made it to the Super Bowl, including current Panthers special teamer Rod Smart (He Hate Me). The other two were wideout Fred Coleman with the Patriots two years ago and cornerback Corey Ivy with the Bucs last year.
4-1 -- The Panthers' all-time postseason record, giving them the best winning percentage (.800) in NFL history. The Patriots rank 10th at 12-10 (.545). The Cowboys own the most postseason wins with 32.
5 -- Patriots who will be making their third Super Bowl appearance with the franchise (1996, 2001, '03): Tedy Bruschi, Ted Johnson, Ty Law, Willie McGinest and Adam Vinatieri.

36 -- Percentage of respondents who chose "force of habit" as the reason they will watch the Super Bowl, according to a survey done by ad agency Eisner Communications. Nine percent said they will tune in just to watch the ads, and 8 percent will have a rooting interest.
48 -- The record for most points scored in Super Bowl history, held by Jerry Rice, who found the end zone eight times in four games.
$2.25 million -- The cost of a 30-second commercial during Super Bowl XXXVIII, up about 7 percent from last year's broadcast.
$821.4 million -- Loss of national productivity due to Super Bowl water-cooler talk, as estimated by the firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
