BRUSSELS, Belgium (Reuters) -- Kim Clijsters will return from a wrist injury to play Fed Cup for Belgium against Croatia this weekend, organizers said on Friday.
The world No. 2 had been expected to miss the world group clash having been sidelined by the injury since the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, Calif., last month.
Clijsters has been suffering from an inflammation in her left wrist for five weeks and has not played in competition since.
The player has been practicing with tape on her wrist and has decided she is fit enough for the first-round tie in her hometown of Bree, Belgium.
World No. 1 Justine Henin-Hardenne, who is suffering a viral infection, is not playing.
Clijsters joins world No. 351 Kirsten Flipkens to play singles. Her younger sister Elke Clijsters will play the doubles with Els Callens.
