CARLSBAD, California (Ticker) - Now, there are no Williams sisters left in the Acura Classic.
Top seed Serena Williams withdrew from her quarterfinal match against Russia's Vera Zvonareva on Friday with a left knee injury and joined sister Venus on the sidelines.
Venus Williams pulled out earlier in the week with a sprained right knee.
Zvonareva received a walkover into Saturday's semifinals and was joined in the final four by No. 5 seed Elena Dementieva of Russia, who routed American Amy Frazier, 6-2, 6-1.
The top American left is No. 4 seed Lindsay Davenport, who takes on No. 8 Ai Sugiyama of Japan in one of two remaining quarterfinal contests.
In the other quarterfinal, French Open champion Anastasia Myskina, the third seed, faces No. 6 Maria Sharapova in a battle of Russians.
