MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suarez won their fifth Grand Slam doubles title Friday, beating Svetlana Kuznetsova and Elena Likhovtseva 6-4, 6-3 in the Australian Open women's doubles final.

It was the eighth straight Grand Slam final for Ruano Pascual and Suarez. They had their serve broken only once, while serving for the match at 5-2, but rallied for their fourth break to finish off the match.

Ruano Pascual and Suarez took over the No. 1 ranking after winning the U.S. Open and the season-ending Championships.

Ruano Pascual and Suarez won their first Grand Slam title in 2001 at the French Open, when Ruano Pascual also took the mixed doubles with Tomas Carbonel.
