Oklahoma Sooners (6-0) I've seen it written that the Sooners "struggled" against Kansas State. Not exactly. After giving up a couple of big plays early, the defense settled down, Jason White was on fire and Adrian Peterson eventually wore down the Wildcats' defense. Next game: Saturday vs. Kansas.

USC Trojans (6-0) No Steve Smith? No problem. Freshman Dwayne Jarrett goes out and does his best Mike Williams impersonation, Reggie Bush does everything but kick and punt and the Trojans' offense thoroughly dominates ASU's highly ranked defense. Next game: Saturday vs. Washington.

Auburn Tigers (7-0) The Tigers' MVP might be offensive coordinator Al Borges. Carnell Williams throwing a touchdown pass? Jason Campbell airing it out? "I wouldn't know how to play us right now with the way we're doing it," head coach Tommy Tuberville said. Next game: Saturday vs. Kentucky

Miami Hurricanes (5-0) You saw some young receivers finally step up against Louisville -- sophomore Darnell Jenkins, freshman Lance Leggett and freshman tight end Greg Olsen. Tackle Rashad Butler was solid as well in replacing All-American Eric Winston. Next game: Saturday at N.C. State.

Wisconsin Badgers (7-0) Yep, they're for real all right. Purdue QB Kyle Orton called the Badgers' D-line "the best front four I've ever seen in the Big Ten." Even their supposed question mark, QB John Stocco, was impressive against the Boilers. Next game: Saturday vs. Northwestern.

California Golden Bears (4-1) You know you're doing something right when you have the nation's No. 3-rated passer (Aaron Rodgers), No. 4 rusher (J.J. Arrington) and No. 10 total defense. Plus, receiver Geoff McArthur is returning to last year's All-America form. Next game: Saturday at Arizona.

Florida St. Seminoles (5-1) After humbling Virginia 36-3, the 'Noles become the Cavs' biggest fans. If Virginia can beat Miami on Nov. 13 and create a three-way tie for first in the ACC, FSU would get the conference's BCS berth by being the highest ranked of the trio if it wins out. Next game: Saturday at Wake Forest.

 |
Tennessee Volunteers (5-1) QB Erik Ainge's freshman mistake -- a blind interception Ole Miss returned for a go-ahead touchdown -- nearly cost the Vols the game, but he promptly responded with throws of 40 and 30 yards, the latter for a TD, to reclaim the lead for good. Next game: Saturday vs. Alabama.

 |
Georgia Bulldogs (5-1) Yes, it came against Vandy, but the Dawgs had two 100-yard rushers in the same game, freshmen Danny Ware and Thomas Brown, for the first time in 12 years, and QB David Greene looked sharp on two third-quarter drives to put the game away. Next game: Saturday at Arkansas.

Michigan Wolverines (6-1) As if one fast-rising freshman running back (Michael Hart) wasn't enough, the Wolverines unleashed another (Max Martin) against Illinois. Hart ran for 234 yards on 40 carries, while Martin, in his first real action, carried 12 times for 67. Next game: Saturday at Purdue.

Purdue Boilermakers (5-1) While his fumble literally cost the Boilers the game Saturday, it would be rash to declare Orton's Heisman candidacy dead. He has several big games remaining, none against an opponent with as fierce a pass rush as Wisconsin's. Next game: Saturday vs. Michigan.

Louisville Cardinals (4-1) If ever one needed definitive proof of the narrowing competitive gap in college football, the Cardinals are it. This is a team that, thanks to national recruiting and superior coaching, can play neck-and-neck with the Miamis of the world. Next game: Friday vs. South Florida.

 |
Texas Longhorns (5-1) What do you do with the 'Horns' passing game? Texas followed up its Oklahoma performance with a 106-yard passing day against Missouri, and now the Vince Young-Chance Mock quarterback question has returned to the fold. Next game: Saturday at Texas Tech.

Utah Utes (6-0) Boy, that Texas A&M win looks better every week, doesn't it? And the Utes absolutely destroyed the ACC's North Carolina, racking up 669 yards while holding the Tar Heels to 221. Now, if we could only see how they match up with Miami. Next game: Saturday vs. UNLV.

Virginia Cavaliers (5-1) OK, let's get one thing straight: The Cavs aren't nearly as bad as they looked Saturday. But it's clear they don't yet have the speed to match up with a team such as Florida State, against which their normally powerful running game came to a halt. Next game: Saturday at Duke.

 |
Texas A&M Aggies (5-1) Hard to believe, but the Big 12 South could come down to the Aggies' game against Oklahoma on Nov. 6, which the Sooners won 77-0 last season. Don't look now, but Reggie McNeal has yet to throw an interception and he's run for 454 yards. Next game: Saturday vs. Colorado.
