Underrated: Kansas State. The Wildcats are led by senior Kendra Wecker, who averages 20.5 points per game and whose name is plastered on every postseason awards list. After finishing third in the Big 12 regular-season standings, the Wildcats lost the conference tournament final to Baylor.
Overrated: Stanford. The Cardinal are ranked No. 1 and seeded No. 2, but they don't deserve either label. Sure, they're 29-2 and one of those losses was to top seed Tennessee. But after escaping with a win over Texas Tech, Stanford skated through the rest of the non-conference schedule and lost to unranked Oregon during Pac-10 play.
Bracket Buster: Montana. The Lady Griz have a trio of players who could lead them to a couple of upset wins. Hollie Tyler shared the Big Sky conference's MVP and is one of the top post players in the nation. Lynsey Monaco was the league's top defensive player and the leader on a team that allows 57 points per game. Katie Edwards averages 12.6 points per game, but can take over with her long range.
Home Cooking: Michigan State. The Spartans played well all season and were rewarded with a top seed and first- and second-round games in Minneapolis. If they advance to the regional round, they're a lot closer to home than Stanford or UConn will be.
Best Player You've Never Heard Of: Anne O'Neil, Iowa State. The senior from Cedar Rapids has come into her own since transferring back home after a freshman year at Illinois. Her most recent accolade was being named to the Big 12 all-conference team after pacing the Cyclones with 16.7 points per game and leading the conference in free-throw percentage (87.5) and 3-point percentage (48.4).
Best Matchup: Stanford-Santa Clara. These schools are only miles away from each other, and the Cardinal called Santa Clara home for the first part of the season while their arena was undergoing renovations. When they meet in Fresno, Calif., both teams are sure to have plenty of support.
The Pick: UConn. I'm reluctant to go with the Huskies, but there's something to be said for experience. This young team took its hits early in the season, but did run its way to the Big East title. Winners of the last three national titles, it's hard to see UConn sitting at home Final Four weekend
