SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) - The Pacific-10 Conference will continue to be represented in the Emerald Bowl through 2009.
On Thursday, the Pacific-10 Conference and Emerald Bowl reached a four-year agreement that will bring the No. 4 or No. 5 team in the conference to the bowl game from 2006-2009.
The bowl game currently matches the No. 6 team in the Pac-10 against the No. 2 or No. 3 team in the Mountain West Conference. Last week, the Emerald Bowl announced a new affiliation with the Atlantic Coast Conference beginning in 2006.
"We're thrilled to partner with the Pac-10 for another four years and move up in the selection order," Emerald Bowl executive director Gary Cavalli said. "Beginning next year, we'll have the only bowl matchup between the Pac-10 and the ACC, two of the best conferences in the country."
The Emerald Bowl, which began as the Diamond Walnut San Francisco Bowl in 2002, was won by Navy last year.
