PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Fred Funk is the winner of the rain-plagued Players Championship. He shot a final round one-under-par 71 to finish nine shots under par. He nosed out Tom Lehman, Scott Verplank and Luke Donald by one shot.

The third round was completed before the fourth round and Donald stood on top of the leaderboard. The win makes the 49-year old Funk the oldest winner of the Players Championship.

Bob Tway, who finished six shots over par, had a terrible day. On the fabled 17th water hold, Tway hit four balls into the water and set a record with a 12 on the par-3 hole during the third round.

Tway broke Robert Gamez's record when he had an 11 on the hole in 1990.
