Golf architect Brian Curley (right), whose firm has designed courses all over the world, also is pretty handy with the guitar. He has combined his love of music and golf to produce the tongue-in-cheek song U.S.G.A. (sung to the tune of Y.M.C.A.).

Here are the lyrics:

Young man
The Open's waiting for you
Mr. Veteran
You've already been through
And know that
We will go far
We'll do any-thing-to-defend par.

Thick rough
You'd better be fit
Because sand wedge
is all the club you can hit
So chop it
Back in the fairway
Because that's-the-way-you-must-play.

[Refrain]

It's fun to be in the U-S-G-A
I love to set it up the USGA way
With rough so thick and so tall
You lose your bag and your ball
Watch the names on the leaderboard fall!

Green speeds
We'd like to see 'em 16
And we don't care
If the color is green
Irrigation?
You know we don't need none
Because that-would-spoil-our-fun

Too fast?
Then we know what to do
If you're lucky
We'll syringe it for you
If you're not so
We'll all laugh out loud
As your ball-bounds-into-the-crowd.

[Refrain]

It's fun to be in the U-S-G-A
We're going to set it up the USGA way
Put the pin on a hill
Make 'em squirm, make 'em squeal
I can do whatever I feel!

If we're all tied
Tomorrow we'll play 18
Nevermind that
The TV ratings are lean
It's tradition
And we must carry on
Even though-the-crowds-are-long-gone.

Clubmakers
Have got that ball goin' far
To where, some say
We left the lid off the jar
We'll do studies
And say what's all the fuss?
Besides they've-got-more-lawyers-than-us.

[Refrain]

It's fun to be in the U-S-G-A
We love to set 'em up the USGA way
Love old courses the most
(Except those on the West Coast)
So don't think that you're going to host

The U-S-G-A
U-S-G-A
