Though the Lakers have a number of players in mind, sources have indicated for a number of months that LeBron James is indeed their primary goal in 2007. The Lakers are in negotiation with Latrell Sprewell. Though he has a sordid past, Sprewell may accept less from the Lakers for a season. Two members of the Hornets' front office will make their way to Baton Rouge from Houston on Tuesday to begin scouting possible locations for the team to play "home" games this season. There have been rumors of a potential Hornets relocation to Las Vegas, perhaps permanently, though that doesn't make financial sense for the NBA. It's been suggested that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar may have recommended Michael Olowokandi to the Lakers. Abdul-Jabbar worked with Olowokandi when both were with the Los Angeles Clippers, and seemed to get some success out of the inconsistent big man. Apparently the Lakers have negotiated a sign and trade for Jason Kapono with the Charlotte Bobcats, though the exact nature of what the Lakers would be sending out is not clear. Cavaliers coach Mike Brown will complete his coaching staff when the hiring of assistant coaches Michael Malone and Melvin Hunt will be announced as soon as today, according to several league sources. |
