6. IndianaAfter Rose Bowl hopes are washed away, play 'Sink the Biz'Posted: Wednesday September 28, 2005 7:38PM; Updated: Thursday September 29, 2005 4:09PM
MUST-EAT: Mother Bear's Pizza made People's Best Pizzeria list -- and for good reason. Eleven bucks buys you a 10" pie, breadsticks, a two-liter drink and two of MB's famous brownies. DOSE OF CULTURE: The Indiana University Art Museum is a step above your typical campus art collection: It houses a handful of original Dalis and Picassos. RULE #57: Technically it's a dry campus. (Riiiiight.) Seriously, though, there's no drinking on Sundays. MUSIC MUST-STOP: Mellencamp Pavilion. Small Town rocker and Bloomington resident John Mellencamp donated the indoor sports facility and is known to organize pick-up football games inside. GETTING AROUND: Hoosiers do it the old-fashioned way -- by foot -- thanks to an old rule that has kept the tree count high and the roads limited. TICKET MASTER: At www.thehoosierweb.com you can usually find tix -- and possibly a ride to the game for out-of-towners. ONLY AT INDIANA: The Hoosiers stake claim to inventing, a Jenga-like drinking game that involves balancing -- oh, like you don't know. POSTGAME: Nick's English Hut, which provides silver Biz buckets, is the place to drown in postgame tears and Sink the Biz. MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Ohio State at IU men's soccer, Oct. 23; Purdue at IU football, Nov. 19; Duke at IU basketball, Nov. 30 (remember Jay Williams's missed FTs last time they played?); the Little 500, April 21-22. PACK YOUR: Portable TV, if you're planning on visiting Memorial Stadium. The last time the football team had a winning season, Full House was still on the air. RITE OF PASSAGE: Make like one of Breaking Away's cutters: Drop trou at any of the local quarries and take a dip. | |||||||
