AFTER 2 A.M: EBAs (Everything But Anchovies) is the late night spot in Hanover. Though known for its pizza it also serves up sandwiches and burgers. Two warnings though: You should never eat at EBAs during the day; it's never as good. And EBAs is only open until 2:10 in order to cater to students who forget they're hungry until then.

THE GREEK LIFE: We weren't kinding when we said that Dartmouth social life is centered around fraternities. Students rarely go to bars and prefer to head to the dingy basement of a fraternity and drink Keystone.

RULE #2: They play 'pong' at Dartmouth. Not Beirut. Using ping pong paddles without handles, Dartmouth students attempt to sink the balls in the cup. It is played everywhere and at almost any time.

ONLY AT DARTMOUTH: Dubbed the Mardi Gras of the North, Dartmouth's Winter Carnival is a festival not to be missed, no matter where you go. Much like The Game, Winter Carnival attracts students from schools all over the country who want to share in the revelry of this winter celebration. Started in 1911 by a member of the Dartmouth Outing Club, the Winter Carnival is centered around a skiing invitational and other athletic events including hockey, basketball and squash. The Polar Bear Swim is a central event during the weekend. Each year Dartmouth students build a giant ice sculpture on the main green of the school. Last year students built a 50-foot-tall ship to go along with the Peter Pan theme of the weekend; in '04 a 35-foot-tall Cat in the Hat was erected marking the 100th birthday of Dartmouth graduate Theodor Seuss Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss). Of course, the parties are the most appealing part of the weekend, as each fraternity and sorority holds an event in honor of the carnival.

Rule #13: The official mascot of the school might be Big Green, but many students hold the unofficial one, Keggy the Keg, in higher regard.

HOMECOMING: Every year at homecoming a giant bonfure is built in the middle of the main green. The freshman class procedes to run laps around the fire according to their year of graduation. The class of '99 ran 99 laps, while lucky class of 2008, runs 108.

BLITZ-krieg: Blitz is the campus email system and is virtually like AIM. All throughout campus there are communal computers and people constantly check their blitz-mail. Benefits: blitz 50 of your friends to see if you want to grab dinner. Downside: Blitz over-dependency. If you go out at night and you can't find your friends, it's hard to find where they are.

RITE OF PASSAGE: Sophomore summer. The only Ivy League school on the quarter system, Darmouth requires students to remain on campus and take courses between their sophomore and junior year. Students rave that it's an awesome time to bond with your class. Students are then allowed to take off one of the three quarters (Fall, Winter, Spring) of their junior year to travel, intern or straight up chill.

REASON TO VISIT DARTMOUTH ACCORDING TO AN UNDERGRAD: "The reason to come to Dartmouth is to get out of the city, go downstairs in a frat basement that is covered in filth and play pong until your very drunk and then 'blitz' all your friends in the morning to tell you how crazy you got the previous evening."

PACK YOUR: Parka. No matter the size of the Darmouth bonfire for Homecoming or nor the inner warmth the fun of Winter Carnival produces, it's New Hampshire and it's cold and snowy.
