AFTER 2 A.M.: Beth's Café, located on Aurora and just west of Greenlake, is seconds away from campus. This 24-hour joint serves bottomless hash browns and an assortment of 12-egg omelets that will defeat any man. Following several plates of potatoes, roll on over to Greenlake, swipe a paddleboat and race around the lake.

MUST-EAT: Aqua Verde is a Mexican restaurant located less than a mile south of campus and sits right on the water. While you're enjoying margaritas and carne asada you'll often have kayaks maneuvering directly below you as you dine on the balcony overlooking Lake Washington and the Cascade mountains.

DOSE OF CULTURE: Cruise on down to the historic Pike Place Market (a salmon-throw from campus) and Seattle's legendary Underground City located beneath Pioneer Square. In 1907, for fear of the bubonic plague, residents fled underground and created a Subterranean City. Pike Place Market is home to the first-ever Starbucks, and if you really love coffee and long lines, head to U-village located in the U-district and visit the "World's Busiest Starbucks."

RULE #86: Don't try looking for booze anywhere outside of a bar or house party after 9 p.m. Liquor is only sold at liquor stores, not at supermarkets, and they are closed after 9 and on Sundays.

MUSIC MUST-STOP: Seattle has the largest indie music scene in the country. Bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse and the Shins all call Seattle home (check the Garden State soundtrack) and have played at the legendary Showbox, a small venue located in downtown Seattle just south of Pike Place Market that has headlined the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, to name a few.

GETTING AROUND: Ride anywhere in the city with your Husky U-Pass. This sticker on the back of your student I.D. allows you to ride any metro bus in the city for free. After hours a cab will get you downtown in about five minutes -- the bus has too many local stops and it's tough to find the express late at night.

TICKETMASTER: Tickets for all Washington athletic events can be purchased online at gohuskies.com or at the on-campus ticket office.

ONLY AT WASHINGTON: Though a bit dated, kids, ask your parents about The Wave. Done at any Journey concert or Seahawks game, this was the coolest thing ever back in the day. Former Husky Band director Bill Bissell and yell king Rob Weller, a future co-host of Entertainment Tonight, created the crowd pleaser at a Huskies game in 1981.

PREGAME: Before you even begin tailgating, head on over to the Ram located in the University Village just below campus and have a Bloody Mary and/or a mimosa. Some people, especially this season, have been known to just stay here. The Ram is draped with flat-screen TVs and has variety of local microbrews that are brewed on site.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Nov. 19 vs. Washington State in The Apple Cup. This game, no matter what the records, will tear families apart and office spaces to pieces, although this year's game might be to see which team wins their first and only conference game of the season in this epic battle of Pac-10 losers.

PACK YOUR: Umbrella and rain coat. If you've ever watched the movie Sleepless in Seattle or sat through an episode of Frasier, you know that it rains, and rains, and rains in Sea-town.

RITE OF PASSAGE: Join U Dub's marching band as they march through campus on Friday night before a home game. Be sure to help out with the drums and symbols as they go inside of one of the stately-looking frat houses and play Louie, Louie.
