MADRID, Spain (Reuters) -- Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Sao Paulo that gives them an option to sign Brazil defender Cicinho.

The Primera Liga club said the deal would allow it to buy the 25-year-old attacking right back in the future if it wanted to.

Real signed Uruguay right back Carlos Diogo from River Plate as cover for Spain international Michel Salgado last month.

Cicinho, who was part of the Brazil side that crushed Argentina 4-1 to win the Confederations Cup in June, had been linked with several other European clubs including Manchester United, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus.
