
Barça to play Israeli-Palestinian teamPosted: Monday November 7, 2005 1:21PM; Updated: Monday November 7, 2005 1:21PM MADRID, Spain (Reuters) -- Spanish champion Barcelona is to play a friendly against a joint Israeli-Palestinian side later this month to promote peace in the Middle East. The match against the Peace Team will take place at the Nou Camp on Nov. 29, the day after a two-day Euro-Mediterranean summit being held in Barcelona. The leaders of all 25 European Union member states and 10 of its Mediterranean neighbours are meeting in the city to discuss closer cooperation in the region. According to a statement on Barcelona's Web site, the objectives of the game are to promote friendship, understanding and respect between the Israeli and Palestinian communities through sport.
