Through four weeks of the season, Eli Manning is the more valuable fantasy quarterback than Peyton Manning. That seems hard to believe, especially after Peyton finally had another vintage performance in picking apart the Titans on Sunday. It was long overdue, given his two lackluster games leading up to this week. But four touchdowns will help erase some of the bitter taste of the past couple of weeks. Problem is, Eli matched him with four scores.
Eli has put together two huge games in a row, even if it's been obscured by others in the same game. His performance against the Chargers last week was overshadowed by LaDainian Tomlinson's huge game, and this week's four-TD effort still paled in comparison to Marc Bulger's 440-yard output and teammate Plaxico Burress' 200-yard outburst. But after these two games, it's hard to ignore Eli. He's at least good for a bye-week fill-in once he gets off his own bye next week.
It's still hard to think Eli will overtake Peyton any time soon, but you could do worse if your fantasy roster contains both of Archie's boys.
Fantasy Stud of the Week
Plaxico Burress, WR, Giants (10 catches, 204 yards, 2 TDs): It was a tight race this week with a handful of players, but you don't see that many 200-yard receiving games, so Plax gets the call. This comes one week after he was benched for the first quarter of the Chargers' game because he was late to a team meeting. Maybe he's going to be the go-to receiver for Eli Manning that Marvin Harrison is to brother Peyton. The only problem with Burress is that he's so wildly inconsistent, you can never be too sure if he'll have this type of game or a 25-yard game.
Other players Neil Rackers, K, Cardinals: 6-6 FGs, 1-1 XPs, 19 points
Fantasy Dud of the Week
Carnell Williams, RB, Buccaneers (11 carries, 13 yards; 2 catches, 6 yards): After three straight 100-yard games to open his career, you knew the Cadillac would slow down at some point. However, who would've thought it would happen against the Lions? He sputtered for just 13 yards before going down with a hamstring injury. All good backs will have a down game, so chalk this up to some bad luck for now. On the other hand, Michael Pittman's value just shot up after a nice game catching the ball out of the backfield.
