In five NFL seasons, Dolphins receiver Chris Chambers never had 10 catches in a game. Or 171 yards in a game.

Then he went out and had both.

In 1/3 of a game.

Chambers was 10-for-171 receiving in the final 18 1/2 minutes of the Dolphins' win over the Bills Sunday in Miami.

Chambers was having an OK game against the Bills Sunday while QB Gus Frerotte was in the game. He caught five passes for 67 yards from Frerotte on the Dolphins' first nine possessions.

Then, with 3 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter, he caught his first pass of the game from QB Sage Rosenfels, who replaced Frerotte after he suffered a concussion. Chambers had more receiving yards in those 18 1/2 minutes than any Dolphin has had in an entire game in more than a decade, since Irving Fryar had 211 yards on Sept. 4, 1994, against the Patriots.

Chambers was 5-for-104 with a TD in the final 2:47 and finished with franchise records of 15 catches for 238 yards. He became only the sixth player in NFL history with both 15 or more receptions for 238 or more yards in a game, although Steve "Scab" Largent gets a big, fat asterisk for running up his stats in a 1987 strike replacement game.

The last time a receiver had 238 or more yards and 15 catches in a game was Dec. 17, 2000, when an independent arbiter ruled that Terrell Owens was 20-for-238 against the Bears.

Here are the six performances in which a player has had at least 15 receptions and 238 or more yards:

Dec. 4, 2005 Chris Chambers, Dolphins vs. Bills 15-238-1
Dec. 17, 2000 Terrell Owens, San Francisco vs. Chicago 20-283-1
Sept 10, 2000 Jimmy Smith, Jacksonville vs. Baltimore 15-291-3
Nov 26, 1989 Willie Anderson, LA Rams vs. New Orleans (OT) 15 336 1
Oct 18, 1987 Steve Largent, Seattle vs. Detroit 15 261 3
Nov 4, 1962 Sonny Randle, St Louis vs. NY Giants 16 256 1

In his five-year NFL career, Chambers never had 15 catches for 238 yards in any two consecutive games combined.
