MILWAUKEE (AP) - Left-hander Chris Capuano, coming off a career-best 18-12 season, agreed Friday to a one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers that would pay him $450,000 if he is in the major leagues and $272,000 if he is in the minors.

The 27-year-old Capuano, who led the major leagues in 2005 with 12 pickoffs, set career highs in wins, games started (35), strikeouts (176) and earned run average (3.99).

Milwaukee also agreed to a one-year deal with 27-year-old right-hander Mike Adams, who gets $335,000 in the majors and $184,100 in the minors. He appeared in 13 games for the Brewers last season, going 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA and one save.

The Brewers said minor league free agent Jason Romano would report to minor league camp. He batted .267 in 19 games with Cincinnati last season.

Infielder Brian Dallimore, who signed a minor league contract with the Brewers last season, announced his retirement.
