NEW YORK (Ticker) -- After leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a perfect record, forward LeBron James on Monday was named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
James was virtually unstoppable, averaging 33.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game as Cleveland posted a 4-0 mark.
James scored 44 points - including 32 in the second half - with 11 rebounds and seven assists to help rally the Cavaliers from an 18-point deficit to a 113-106 victory over Phoenix on Sunday. The last player to collect at least 44 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in a game was Hakeem Olajuwon on March 23, 1996.
In a 106-97 win in Atlanta on January 25, James had 38 points, nine rebounds and six assists. He posted at least 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists in each game during the week.
James also was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month in November.
Brand, a forward for the Los Angeles Clippers, was named Western Conference Player of the Week as he averaged 24.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.3 blocks and led the Clippers to a 4-0 record.
Brand began the week by scoring 28 points to help the Clippers overcome a 19-point second-half deficit and beat Golden State, 96-93, on January 22.
Brand also hit 14-of-21 shots and posted his 25th double-double of the season with 33 points and 10 rebounds Friday to lead the Clippers to a 105-87 win at Denver, which had a seven-game winning streak snapped.
The following night, Brand had 17 points, eight rebounds and a season-high eight assists to lead the Clippers to their largest margin of victory this season in a 112-79 win over Denver.
This is the third weekly honor this season and fifth career for Brand, who also was named the West's Player of the Month in November.
