(Ticker) -- The Maryland men's basketball team will be without one of its top freshmen for the next month. Jerome Burney, a 6-9 forward, suffered a small fracture to a bone in his left foot and is expected to miss four to six weeks. The injury will not require surgery, according to Terrapins coach Gary Williams. "We expect Jerome to make a full recovery and return to the rotation as quickly as possible," Williams said. Burney finished as the career leader in blocked shots with 570 at Westlake High School in Georgia. As a senior, he led the team to a 32-1 record and a runner-up finish in the state Class 4A Championships. © 2006 SportsTicker Enterprises, LP | |||
