More State Champs
Who were the State Champs elsewhere in the U.S.? Pick another state from the menu:
No school has emerged as a leader in Maine. The state's best -- and for the most part, only -- real prospects are prep-schoolers, most of whom sign with teams that they had ties to during high school. Shooting guard Robert Vaden, arguably the top player out of Maine during this stretch, hailed from Indianapolis and signed with the Hoosiers. Courtney Beasley, who was one of the C-USA's top freshmen in 2005-06, was from Alabama and signed with Southern Miss. Justin Burrell, a forward from the Bronx, committed to St. John's. Nine of the 10 players on this list played for Bridgton Academy (Kodi Augustus, the exception, played for Maine Central).
Outside Player: Mississippi State
Mississippi State has signed two Maine prepsters, Augustus and Bernard Rimmer (a two-star PF from '05) in its past three classes.
Dragging In-State: ???
No one. The University of Maine recruits well within its borders, with eight state players on its roster, but the Black Bears finished sixth in the America East last season.
