More State Champs
Who were the State Champs elsewhere in the U.S.? Pick another state from the menu:

Louisville, by a nose over Pittsburgh. The Panthers -- or specifically, ex-assistant coach Barry Rohrssen -- recruited their starting backcourt out of New York, grabbing Ronald Ramon and Levance Fields in back-to-back years. But the Cardinals' 1-2 punch of Juan Palacios (who averaged 10.2 points and 6.2 rebounds last year while battling injuries) and Edgar Sosa (who's battling for the starting PG job as a frosh) is slightly stronger.

Outside Player: UConn

A host of powerhouse teams have signed their point guards from New York: UConn has A.J. Price; Syracuse has Johnny Flynn (the gem of '07); Duke has Greg Paulus (New York's best player in '05); and Kansas has Russell Robinson.

Dragging In-State: St. John's

St. John's has a commitment from three-star point guard Malik Boothe in the Class of 2007, and brought in a 2006 class with a quartet of four-star recruits, but the Johnnies don't have anyone on this list. Which has to hurt a little.
