With some impressive catches lately, Jackson has proven to be capable and at times downright spectacular. I'm looking for him to continue progressing over the offseason before emerging as dangerous a scoring threat. Vernon Davis, TE, San Francisco 49ers The paper went on to suggest that Davis' speed, athleticism and ability to break tackles give him the ability to score from anywhere on the field. I couldn't agree more. In fact, Davis would have ranked as one of the fastest wideouts in the draft after running a 4.38-second 40-yard dash at February's combine. Davis has the strength -- 33 repetitions at 225 -- to be a good blocker but he can also work out of backfield or be split wide. Unfortunately, his progress this season was slowed greatly by a broken leg. Still, he's beginning to flash some of that speed and ability now that he's back -- and with Eric Johnson sidelined by a sprained knee. Johnson isn't a lock to return next season. Even if he does, I suspect Norv Turner is going to spend considerable time this offseason figuring out ways to get the ball in Davis' hands. I also believe an improving Alex Smith will be able to put it there. Check back next week when we'll make an effort to identify next fall's big-name busts.
