KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The son of former New York Yankees first baseman Don Mattingly has signed with Tennessee.
Preston Mattingly has signed to play next spring, making him the 10th member of this year's signing class.
Mattingly, of Evansville, Ind., is batting .464 with two home runs in his senior season of high school. He could be an outfielder or infielder for the Volunteers. He also won all-state honors in football and basketball.
Don Mattingly is currently the Yankees' hitting coach. He retired from playing in 1995 as a nine-time Gold Glove winner and the 1985 American League MVP.
