In this week's National Football Top 25, No. 2 Lakeland (Fla.) edged No. 10 St. Xavier (Ohio) in one of many exciting games at the Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge. No. 1 Hoover (Ala.) retains the top spot with a win over rival Spain Park (Ala.).

Last Game: Defeated Spain Park, 40-28.
Notes: Senior quarterback Ross Wilson completed 13 of 18 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores. Senior running back Dennis King racked up 131 total yards on offense, while senior defensive back Camyren Stokes had an 83-yard fumble return for a touchdown. The Bucs will play at Mountain Brook on Friday.

Lakeland (Fla.) (4-0)
Last Game: Defeated No. 10 St. Xavier (Cincinnati, Ohio), 25-22, in overtime in the Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge.
Notes: Lakeland stretched its winning streak to 34 games with a tough win on the road against St. Xavier, which is one of the nation's top teams. Senior kicker Matt Roddenbery nailed the game-winning 42-yard field goal in the extra session and senior defensive back Steve Wilks clinched the game with an interception on St. Xavier's ensuing possession. Senior fullback Jamar Taylor, who has committed to Alabama, ran for 117 yards and a touchdown, while senior tailback and Florida-recruit Chris Rainey ran for 87 yards and scored on a 97-yard kickoff return. Lakeland hosts Dr. Krop on Friday.

Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.) (2-0)
Last Game: Did not play.
Notes: The Lions were idle this week and will travel to play No. 9 St. Bonaventure on Friday in one of the nation's most anticipated games of the season. Oaks Christian has a 33-game winning streak, while St. Bonaventure has won 27-consecutive games. In two games, Oaks Christian senior quarterback Jimmy Clausen has completed 17 of 26 passes for 476 yards, eight touchdowns and has one interception, while senior running back/linebacker Marc Tyler has scored three touchdowns on offense and two on defense.

Warren Central (Indianapolis) (5-0)
Last Game: Defeated North Central, 53-34.
Notes: Can anyone stop Warren Central's Darren Evans? The senior running back ran for 177 yards and five touchdowns on 22 carries to help lift the Warriors past North Central, 53-34. Evans has tallied 944 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns so far this year and has an excellent chance of eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark when Central travels to play Terre Haute North on Friday.

Soutlake Carroll (Texas) (2-0)
Last Game: Defeated Evangel Christian (Shreveport, La.), 43-16.
Notes: The Dragons' victory over Evangel Christian stretched their winning streak to 34 consecutive games and they've now won 65 of their past 66 contests. Junior quarterback Riley Dodge completed 15 of 26 passes for 257 yards and four touchdowns, while senior wide receiver Anthony Ford caught six passes for 115 yards and a touchdown and junior wide receiver Blake Cantu hauled in two touchdown receptions. Junior running back Tre' Newton added 77 rushing yards and a touchdown. Carroll hosts Rockwall on Friday.

Independence (Charlotte, N.C.) (4-0)
Last Game: Defeated Vance, 21-20.
Notes: The Patriots edged Vance for their 96th consecutive victory. Vance cut the lead to one with 58 seconds left on a 1-yard run by Ra'Shawn Moore and decided to go for two. Independence junior Jordan Woods stuffed Vance's Chase Waldo on the two-point try to preserve the winning streak.

Lufkin (Texas) (3-0)
Last Game: Defeated Nacogdoches, 43-0.
Notes: The Panthers' defense dominated en route to their shutout victory. Lufkin limited Nacogdoches to 37 rushing yards and 94 passing yards, while senior linebacker Cam Davis tallied 10 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack. Senior quarterback Jeremy Claybon completed 13 of 19 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns.

South Panola (Batesville, Miss.) (4-0)
Last Game: Defeated Carver (Memphis, Tenn.), 44-0.
Notes: Backup quarterback David Renfroe tossed three touchdown passes and added a field goal to lead South Panola to its 49th consecutive win.

St. Bonaventure (Ventura, Calif.) (3-0)
Last Game: Defeated Canyon Country Canyon, 21-14.
Notes: The Seraphs edged Canyon for their 27th consecutive win and 98th victory in the last p01 games. Junior wide receiver/defensive back Casey Serna had a 15-yard touchdown reception and returned an interception 25 yards for another score. The key play of the game came with the score tied at 14. Canyon senior running back J.J. DiLuigi was stripped by St. Bonaventure senior defensive back Angel Morales, who recovered the fumble at the St. Bonaventure 2-yard line. St. Bonaventure scored on the ensuing drive on an 11-yard run by sophomore Patrick Hall. Senior running back Michael Lee ran for 211 yards on 26 carries. The Seraphs host No. 3 Oaks Christian on Friday.

St. Xavier (Cincinnati) (3-1)
Last Game: Lost to No. 2 Lakeland (Lakeland, Fla.), 25-22, in the Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge.
Notes: Lakeland senior Matt Roddenbery kicked a 42-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Dreadnaughts past the Bombers, who had their 18-game winning streak snapped. St. Xavier had a chance to answer Roddenbery's field goal, but was intercepted on its overtime possession to end the game. St. Xavier junior running back Darius Ashley ran for 120 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, while junior Danny Milligan kicked three field goals and caught two passes for 45 yards. Despite the loss, St. Xavier doesn't fall in the rankings because it was a close defeat to the nation's No. 2 team.

De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) (2-0)
Last Game: Defeated Elder (Cincinnati, Ohio), 56-38, in the Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge.
Notes: Junior quarterback Mike MacGillivray ran for 133 yards and four touchdowns and completed 9 of 15 passes for 169 yards and two scores to key the Spartans' big win over Elder. De La Salle gained 496 total yards, including 327 rushing. De La Salle's dominating win moves it up in the rankings.

Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.) 43-0)
Last Game: Defeated Moeller (Cincinnati, Ohio), 21-20, in the Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge.
Notes: The Rebels rallied from a 20-7 halftime deficit to edge a tough Moeller team. The big victory on the road against a solid team moves Byrnes up in the rankings. Senior quarterback Willy Korn ran for two touchdowns, including the game-winner with 3:26 left, to lift the Rebels to the win.
