Bill Clinton held the job as the most powerful person in the world. Now he's being mentioned as a potential successor to Paul Tagliabue as the most powerful person in sports. According to publisher Simon & Schuster, Terrell Owens is writing a book about his two seasons with the Eagles. The book will go on sale in late July. In the book, tentatively titled Ineligible Receiver: The Real Story of My Journey From the Super Bowl to the Sidelines, Owens is expected to describe his deteriorating relationship with Donovan McNabb and provide a detailed account of his unprecedented arbitration hearing. From the time Terrell Owens signed through noon Monday, the Cowboys report that they had sold 1,500 Owens jerseys online. After taking in Vince Young's workout at Texas Pro Day in Austin tomorrow afternoon, the Titans will get some private time with the quarterback in the evening and again on Thursday. General manager Floyd Reese said he, coach Jeff Fisher, offensive coordinator Norm Chow and a scout ? likely Blake Beddingfield ? will all make the trip. For the record, Craig Nall does think Brett Favre will be back as the Green Bay Packers' quarterback next season. But, Nall says, don't think that his decision to sign with the Buffalo Bills means he has inside information on Favre's plans. He's in the dark just like everyone else. The Packers and Patriots appear to be the only teams in the bidding for Adam Vinatieri, which is sure to conclude with the best contract ever signed by a kicker. There's always the chance another team steps in if talks drag on, but with only two bidders, the Packers have to think they have a legitimate shot at signing Vinatieri. There's no urgency on the Green Bay Packers' part to add to their wide receiver corps, but the opportunity to examine a speedster the size of Kansas City free agent Marc Boerigter was too hard to pass up. Evidently new Vikings coach Brad Childress hasn't been mincing words in meetings with his new players. "They look at me and there is just a little bit of, 'Who is this guy? What does he stand for?' " he said. "What I told them is, 'You didn't pick me, I picked you.' Because if I didn't take this job I was going down the road to take the job with the Green Bay Packers." |
