Developers are working to turn 2,000 acres of barren Idaho desert land into a massive state-of-the-art racing facility called War Eagle Speedways, capable of accommodating NASCAR and IRL racing. Builders think the complex could rake in at least 100 million dollars yearly for Idaho.

Kasey Kahne is scheduled to drive a McDonald's "I'm Lovin' It" paint scheme in the USG Sheetrock 400 at Chicagoland Speedway on July 9. Bill Elliott was the last Evernham Motorsports driver to carry the "Golden Arches" in a NEXTEL Cup Series race when he drove the No. 91 at California Speedway last September. Ironically, Elliott will making his debut in the No. 00 Burger King sponsored car for Michael Waltrip at Chicago. McDonald's corporate headquarters are located nearby Chicagoland Speedway in Oak Brook, Illinois

Toyota could be poised for its first championship this year as the Tundra manufacturer is dominating the points in the NCTS. Toyota drivers occupy the top six spots in the standings heading into Friday's Sam's Town 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. Toyotas have won three of the eight races this year. Toyota also leads the manufacturers standings after finishing third in 2004 and second last year. In three years, Toyota trucks have been to Victory Lane 16 times.

NASCAR announced Tuesday that Wally Rogers, crew chief of the No. 33 Chevrolet driven by Ron Hornaday Jr. in the NASCAR Busch Series, has been fined $1,000 for a right rear shock absorber that exceeded the specified nitrogen gas pressure. The infraction was discovered during post-race inspection on June 3 at Dover, Del.

Mark Martin had a car capable of winning at Dover, but a loose lug nut forced an unscheduled pit stop. Despite the pit road goof, Martin finished ninth. "We had a winning race car and had a bad day with it," Martin said.

Elliott Sadler, driver of the No. 38 M&M's Fusion, has struggled in 2006 after making the Chase for the Championship in 2004 and just missing it in 2005. He is tied for 19th place in the standings this year heading into Sunday's 500-mile race at Pocono Raceway. Sadler says he has broken down his approach to the season into small, three-race snippets on similar tracks; this weekend's race, on a 2.5-mile triangular-shaped superspeedway, falls between Dover International Speedway (one-mile speedway) and Michigan International Speedway (two-mile superspeedway) on the schedule.

Emmy Award-winner Kim Zimmer and the CBS soap Guiding Light hit the track with NASCAR driver Travis Kvapil and the Tide Racing Team when the show taped on location at the Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC. The soap also plans to tape at the team's race shop which is also located in Hickory.
