A National League source said the Dodgers approached the Marlins within the past week with a package of highly-regarded prospects and big-league ready players. According to the source, Florida said Dontrelle Willis wasn't available. -- MLB.com

The Yankees may be on the verge of acquiring slugger Carlos Lee from the Brewers.
