Is Phillip Fulmer's job really on the line? Some say another losing season will spell doom for the veteran Tennessee coach, who watched his team finish an uncustomary 5-6 a year ago. UT athletics director Mike Hamilton has publicly said the school expects improvement.

It is believed West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez successfully negotiated a significant decrease in his $2 million buyout, which means he easily could be the next Florida State coach, presumably his dream job.

Notre Dame baseball coach Paul Mainieri, who is scheduled to meet with LSU athletic director Skip Bertman about the Tigers' head coaching vacancy today, could be selected Smoke Laval's replacement as soon as Wednesday, according to sources close to the situation. On Monday, LSU athletic officials "were not ready to confirm" reports from various media outlets that Mainieri's hiring was a done deal.
