"I'd certainly like to see him before I leave here," Gordon said before the third day of testing began. "I was hoping just to see him here because I figured we'd all be here." Ever since his return from a four-race suspension, stemming from his ejection from Daytona in February for several infractions that nullified Jimmie Johnson's qualifying effort, Chad Knaus has tried to be on his best behavior, especially it seems when it comes to dealing with inspectors. Chip Ganassi and Juan Pablo Montoya played down the possibility of racing the road course at Watkins Glen, N.Y., where Montoya competed in open-wheel cars, when NASCAR races there Aug. 13-14. Kevin Harvick also will compete in the Busch race on Saturday in chassis No. 046 from the Richard Childress Racing stable, rebuilt for the 2006 season. That is the same car Harvick drove to Victory Lane earlier this season at Phoenix and Richmond. It's also the car that finished 19th at the Milwaukee Mile after Harvick spun out in the closing laps while battling for the lead. Will Ferrell has become accustomed to being identified as Ricky Bobby, his role in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. The NASCAR-themed comedy doesn't hit theaters until Aug. 4, but Ferrell said he already has been besieged by requests to sign autographs in character. A Ricky Bobby merchandise trailer has been traveling to NASCAR races since April. Peyton Sellers, a development drier for Richard Childress Racing, is taking his fast-rising NASCAR stock to the Busch Series this weekend. He will drive the No. 31 Chevrolet this weekend for owner Ted Marsh. Sellers also drove for Marsh recently in the Busch East Series at Greenville, S.C. After missing the past two races with a shoulder injury suffered late in the race June 24 in Milwaukee, Mark McFarland has been cleared to resume racing this weekend for JR Motorsports. FitzBradshaw Racing chose Carlos Contreras to drive its No. 14 Dodge in select races the rest of the season. He'll share the seat with series rookie Tracy Hines and veteran Mike Skinner. Ken Schrader, driver of the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford Fusion will have Sunbelt Cereals as his sponsor at New Hampshire Interntional Speedway. Mckee Foods Corporation manufactures Sunbelt Cereals and also Little Debbie snack cakes, which is one of the primary sponsors on the team. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
