Yankee GM Brian Cashman lambasted WFAN talk show host Chris Russo yesterday in a loud exchange that was ignited by Russo branding the newly acquired Cory Lidle as "not a good pitcher." Giants general manager Brian Sabean acknowledged for the first time he listened to offers from other teams on Jason Schmidt, though he called all proposals "half-hearted" and emphasized he never shopped the pitcher. Designated hitter Javy Lopez said he was hoping he would learn that he'd be shipped off to a place where he could catch full time -- or at least more than he is doing with the Orioles. When informed of Lopez's interest in being released, Orioles vice president Jim Duquette seemed surprised. A scan of Albert Pujols' swollen and achy right elbow revealed no structural damage Monday, and he is expected to return to the starting lineup tonight against Philadelphia, a team official said. Right fielder Trot Nixon will miss at least three weeks, according to general manager Theo Epstein's "very rough timetable," after an MRI showed a Grade 2 strain of the right biceps tendon.
